Low Vision

Low vision refers to irreversible vision loss that cannot be improved with regular glasses, medicine, or surgery.  Individuals living with low vision often struggle to participate in daily activities such as reading, shopping, or watching the television.  Some of the most common causes of low vision include macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, and stroke or brain injury.

Low Vision Rehabilitation

Many optical devices (magnifiers and telescopic aids) are available to help people with low vision function better. Low vision rehabilitation professionals identify the proper devices and training activities to allow individuals to use their remaining vision more effectively. Through low vision rehabilitation, many individuals are able to use prescribed optical devices to read, write, and perform daily activities more independently.
